Was browsing new car listings and it struck me how few manual transmission options there are anymore. Even the Miata and WRX are losing market share to their automatic variants. I learned on a manual Civic back in the day and there's just something about rowing through gears that makes driving feel more connected. Do any of you still daily a manual? Would you buy another one if you could? Starting to feel like we're the last generation that'll care about this.

Daily a 6-speed GTI and I'll keep buying manuals as long as they make them. It's not about being faster anymore - the DSG is objectively quicker. It's about engagement.

I think manuals will survive as a niche enthusiast option but they're not coming back as mainstream. EVs don't even have transmissions in the traditional sense.

Taught my daughter on a manual - she's 19 and loves it. Said it makes her feel more in control. There's still hope for the next generation!
